About the Author
Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the most revered Zen teachers in the world today. His best-selling books include Happiness and Peace Is Every Step. He lives in Plum Village in southwest France, where he teaches the art of mindful living.

Illustrator Jenifer Kent makes drawings inspired by systems and patterns of movement and growth. She received her BFA from Rutgers University and her MFA from Mills College. She lives in Petaluma, California and teaches at San Francisco University High School. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is represented by Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco.

Mindfulness as Energy

Thich Nhat Hanh writes: “We have the ability to work wonders. If we live mindfully in everyday life, walk mindfully, are full of love and caring, then we create a miracle and transform the world into a wonderful place.”

For Nhat Hanh, mindfulness is a form of energy. He compares mindfulness to a seed, which, when watered, grows into enlightenment, understanding, compassion, and transformation. The more we practice mindfulness, the stronger this seed will grow.

Living in the Present Moment

Thich Nhat Hanh writes: “Our true home is the present moment. If we really live in the moment, our worries and hardships will disappear and we will discover life with all its miracles.”

Real life can only be found and touched in the here and now. This is because the present moment is the only moment we can actually influence. The past is over and the future has not yet arrived. Since the present moment is the only real moment for us, we can always return here to get in touch with the wonders of life.

Thich Nhat Hanh regards living in the moment as the key requirement for one’s own freedom. He says, “As long as we are consumed with our everyday problems—distress, regrets about the past or constant worries about the future—we cannot be free people; we are not able to live in the here and now.”

Every day a gentle and deceptively simple thought on how to conduct ourselves. Seeps slowly into oUr conscIousness. I start back at the beginning when I have finished to help it sink in more deeply as time passes.

Lovely Little Book

This book is literally a small gem and makes a nice gift for someone who is already a fan of Thay's as well as anyone who is looking for, or might benefit from, a bit of (as the subtitle says) daily inspiration. The observations are light and deep at the same time, but never heavy-handed, pressured, or too saccharine.The blank pages at the end invite personal observations in the manner of a journal, altho they are not numerous, since the book is, in fact, small. Normally I download books to my Kindle, but to gain full benefit of its artistry, this one is best enjoyed in hardback form.

good fast pace medical romance

Beth, and Ryan were Orthopedic surgeons. Ryan is her new boss, and they both agreed that they never dated colleagues. The two were instantly attracted to one another. With both Ryan, and Beth being surgeons this was a fast pace book, taking care of patients and having very little time to get to know one another outside of the operating room. I enjoyed the medical part of this book. It was not too gory, but it did have a lot of medical acronyms thrown in.
Beth was a miracle. She was a normal size child born to both of her parents being dwarfs. Both her parents loved her very much. She was very protective of her parents. Beth was known for speed dating. If the guys she dated didn't pass her check list, they never got a second chance. Ryan was passing all her test, and she knew she was falling in love with him. He also was falling hard for Beth. This book had a lot of tender moments. You could tell that Ryan really did care for Beth.

This was a good story. I felt the end was a little rushed. I wished the book had a epilogue. The book left me wondering if Beth was able to have normal size babies, or if her child or children were going to be dwarfs. Not that it matters, because I know in the end that both parents would love that child no matter what. It was just a question that Beth wondered about, so I wished it was answered before the end of the book.

Helen Brooks had me crying almost from the beginning of this book, I thought Candy Grey was truly a sweet lovable woman, but she had been hurt both in her body and her heart. The man she was going to marry only became engaged to her because she was Xavier Grey's niece, and he played around with other women, until one of them got pregnant, and he told Candy her uncle Xavier could easily pay off the woman and they would be cool.
In the argument that continued, Harper swerved off the road to miss a jackknifed lorry (truck) but because they were in a heated argument at the time Harper reacted too late.
Candy felt she would never trust another man other than Xavier again.
Quinn Ellington another wounded soul, had to watch his infant son die when his loony wife stole little Joe and ran away, only to miss her turn and end up drowning both herself and the baby, who died later in hospital.
So these two wounded souls find each other, and Quinn is the first to fall, but he refuses to admit he is caught, hook-line-and sinker.
Candy finds she is in love with Quinn, but she knows he won't thank her for falling in love with him. So they both tiptoe around until Quinn first suggests that Candy pretend she is his girlfriend, until at a party a friend of Quinns makes a suggestion to switch partners, and Quinn pulls out all stops, he announced he and Candy are about to get married.
That is when the fun starts. So again the people who deserved happiness find each other. A[...]

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO BROOKS?

I generally enjoy Helen Brooks' work, but lately her books have taken a turn for the worse. I really liked her books - Price of a Wife, A Private Revenge and The Bride Wore Black. Her other books were passable, but this one was just plain awful. Too much emotional baggage on both sides and not much chemistry between the characters. I hope that her books pick up soon.

traceability overview

Thorough but not in depth presentation of recent traceability developments in the food industry.Excelent general presentations of various authors with different fields of expertise.
Although a general and not targetting on a specific area of the food industry(which is multioriented anyway) it is a very helpful book for the novice and the experienced food scientist or student.I would prefer it more analytical though and solution providing, that what I was looking for and didnt find in this book.Excelent choice though for your library.
