So Baffling!

Another great edition to the series! This book is the first of Umineko Chiru, the "answer arcs" and the first not portrayed in the anime that only covers the four question arcs. It is the one I personally, have been waiting for! So onto the book! Well, I preordered and got it on the release date! So thank you Amazon! The book itself was amazing! The term "answer arc" is a little misleading because there are more questions than answers! Many things were added: more focus on Bernkastel and Lambdadelta, Knox's Ten Wedges to Pierce Witches that make the story more mysterious (there is a translation note that explains all ten), and a mysterious person who has crept into Natsuhi's life. The character of Beatrice changes once again, making her more mysterious as well! The art does take some time to get used to but it is good in its own way. We get to know Erika Furudo, Bernkastel's pawn and she is great so far! One thing I didn't like story wise was Hideyoshi's change in character. A lot of the characters actually are acting different but Hideyoshi is the most prominent one. He was typically nice in the first four episodes and all of a sudden he is yelling and swearing at Natsuhi?! Also, Eva is more laid back?! I don't know whether to blame the writer or translation or to consider this as some sort of hint or change in story. I won't rule that out until I have read all 8 episodes. These sudden changes in character are perplexing as the whole book! I am also open to the possibility that it is just the way I perceive the characters that has changed. Well, enough about that! Onto the color inserts! They include the unused cover as usual as well as one more. This may sound disappointing but fear not! The first few pages of the first chapter are in color! They are beautiful and it was a nice change of pace from the usual colored pictures that weren't part of the story! Overall, 5 stars! I cannot wait for the next one and hopefully we will see a reason for the change in personalities! Oh one more thing that bothered me. If you read Higurashi, you probably remember how the number on the spine had a black background for the question arcs and a white one for the answer arcs. Well, this is an answer arc and the background is black just like with the question arcs! I thought they would do like they did with Higurashi but I guess not! And I thought it was a nice way to differentiate between the question and answer arcs and not confuse readers! But it is what it is! See you again and thank you for reading this long review!

This is a really good arc so far. More and more hints and herrings are thrown as to the true purpose of the game between Battler and Beatrice. If you have made it this far in the series you will find that this arc will kind of re-energize you on the series.

Thorough Overview

This book provides the radio amateur with everything that he/she needs to know to get started in JT65 and JT9. It is written at a level that most hams will understand, leaving the technical nuts and bolts for exploration later. Because everyone's situation is different, it doesn't cover 100% of what you will need to get on the air, but most hams can fill in the blanks with ease. There are plenty of screenshots to help you get started. There is also a good discussion of what to expect once you are on the air.

A great way to teach children about the importance of forgiving others

Because my son has a hard time with saying sorry and is known to hold a grudge the second I saw this one on *Netgalley I knew I had to request it.

Forgive and Let Go shows situations where children may become angry because of something another person does. It emphasizes that saying your sorry is important learning to forgive people for making mistakes even if they fail to apologize.

I appreciated this book for the message it was teaching. I love that it validated children's feelings when others do things that hurt/bother them. But it also taught that you have to let things go and forgive others. The pictures did a good job representing the different situations that were brought up.

I might have to read this to my son a few more times to help reinforce the message to him but he seemed to understand what the book was trying to say. I think though we will still have a hard time getting him to say he is sorry.

I would say this was a 4 out of 5 stars.

Another Fantastic Book In The Series

This is a great intro book for learning to forgive and let go. I do feel to get the most from the book, utilizing the activity and reinforcement ideas at the back is very important. Forgiving and apologizing can sometimes be hard, the activities should help with the words to use and how to approach. Beautiful illustrations. This is a fantastic series!! I requested this book because when I read the title I thought K might need to read this book or at least have it read to him. He is at the age that he either doesn't like to forget what someone has done to him or he doesn't want to forgive them and he holds a grudge. Which I don't want him to do.
With Forgive and Forget I enjoyed how it showed in the pictures different things that could happen to you but then it described that if this happens YOU can choose to forgive or let things go. One example that happens in our home is my daughter who is 2 tears up her brother's legos which he gets very upset about and wants to retaliate. I have to remind him that he can put them back together it is not a big deal. And in the book we see a picture of a brother knocking down some blocks and instead of getting upset he realizes that there is no need as the problem is not very important. And with that I had to let K know you see there is no need to get upset over something so little.

I thought it was great that there were different situations within the story and what you can do to make them not so big and how to work them out. This is a good book to read to young kids that understand what is going on around them with their feelings and actions towards others. I have noticed a slight change with how K approaches things that happen to him. He isn't quick to lash out with anger, so maybe this book did get through to him.

Beautiful Book for a Great Price

This book is beautifully illustrated and certainly serves as a great atlas. It is organized by body system with a brief section on the normal physiology of that system and then entries for various conditions of that system. The index references page numbers, but the there are tables of contents for each color-coded system section organized by chapter number boldly displayed in the upper corners of the page. Thus, it is quite easy to find a lot of helpful information.

I will quibble a bit with the choice of what to exclude. There is not a word about seizure disorders. At first I thought that might be because the author chose to include conditions for which there can be lots of photos, imaging studies and drawings. But the chapter on neurodiagnostic tests does show a couple of EEC tracings and mentions EEG's utility in diagnosing conditions other than seizures. Then there's a chapter on diabetes insipidus that just has a diagram, so the graphics theory goes. Thus, I find it inexplicable that there's nothing about seizures.

Still, an interesting and useful reference, perhaps as a companion to Ferri's Clinical Adviser (or to my preference, The 5-Minute Clinical Consult).

A unique and useful approach to learning medicine

This reference is always open in my house when I'm studying. I flip back and forth between uptodate and this, or Cecil's and this, or "insert other nerdy medical text" and this. The descriptions of presentation of illness along with the variety of clinical images really solidify disease concepts and differentials into my mind. The chapters are brief yet thorough and laid out in bullet point form.

For instance I was able to SEE all the presentations of "multiple lung nodules/masses," each disease/syndrome/etc presented with unique identifiers for nailing the right ailment. It took about 30 minutes to do. EASY. Thats what I need.

After flipping through black, white, and gray text this book loaded with pictures, graphs, flow charts, and all other sorts of useful images deserves a place in any serious student's library. I don't know if this book will make me a better physician but it sure makes learning all this stuff much easier and far more entertaining.

A wonderful book on Levy process

The authors not only understand the math, but also integrate the math with financial economics well. I think Levy process is the way to go in the next decade. For example, fundamentally speaking, Brownian motion cannot explain the equity premium puzzle, hence people resort to other factors, such as incomplete market, behaviors, prospect theory, etc. However, behavioral explanations cannot stand in the long run. Prospect theory may reveal what a "normal" person usually do, but once it is revealed, a normal person can get "smarter" and overcome his/her impetus in making suboptimal decisions. Then behavioral andirrational explanation will fail (eventually). One thing I found from my own research is that the Levy process may be an important yet often ignored factor that can explain unexplained issues in finance, hence we do not have to reply on shaky behavioral and irrational arguments. One last point, behavioral can be either rational (good, correct and acceptable) or irrational (bad and should be got rid of. This would be the long long journey for a person who has deep beliefs in science).

This book is an approach to economics in according to a very strong mathematical structure.
It is simply to explicate the concept why Tankov apply the L�vy processes.
The Black-Scholes theory is failed and we use the existence of jump to approximate better the financial phenomena.
